Winter Energy Savings Tips

Middle Tennessee Electric and the Connecting MHA Team want to wish you a Happy Holiday Season. In that spirit, we wanted to share some tips for saving energy and managing that bill this winter!

  • Keep cold air out of your new home!
Check to make sure there are no air leaks around the house. Seal air leaks around pipes and any gaps around floor ducts, chimneys and unfinished spaces behind cupboards and closets.
  • Watch the thermostat!
Set your heating system’s thermostat to 68 degrees. You can expect to add 3% to your electric bill for each degree above 68.
  • Let the sunshine in
Keep blinds and draperies open during the day to help let in the heat and close them at night to help retain the heat.
  • Use LED holiday lights
This holiday season, use LED holiday light strings to reduce the cost of electricity while decorating the home for the winter holidays.
