Winter Energy Savings Tips
Middle Tennessee Electric and the Connecting MHA team want to wish you a happy holiday season with some tips for saving energy this winter!
- Use LED holiday lights.
Check to make sure there are no air leaks around the house. Seal air leaks around pipes and any gaps around floor ducts, chimneys and unfinished spaces behind cupboards and closets. - Hosting for the Holidays? Turn down the heat.
Having guests over means an increase in body heat! Turn down your thermostat in preparation for your gathering. - Brighten up your home.
Open your draperies and let the sunshine in during the day to optimize the natural heat the sun gives off. Close them at night to help retain the heat. - Keep an eye on that thermostat.
Did you know you can expect to add 3% to your electric bill for each degree above 68? Avoid this by setting your heating system’s thermostat to no higher than 68 degrees. - Utilize your myMTE account.
The myMTE portal has a suite full of useful tools, including one that shows the hours your household uses the most energy. If you don’t have a myMTE account, Click here to learn how to set it up!
